Presentation of the HERCULES concept at the 1st Workshop of NEUTRON Pilot, December 2023, Kozani, Greece

The HERCULES concept was presented by the CERTH team on 13th of December at the 1st Workshop of NEUTRON Pilot, which is the HE Net Zero Cities initiative run by the city of Kozani, Greece. The NEUTRON initiative aims to explore carbon-neutral substitutes for current energy sources in the city's existing district heating system, which could be achieved e.g., by retrofitting/expanding the district heating system that could use the waste heat from any HERCULES high-temperature storage systems operating in industries in the area.

This perspective highlights the potential reach of the HERCULES project beyond just high-temperature industrial heating.
